Greatest Commandment

When Jesus Christ was asked which is the greatest commandment, he responded this way –

37 Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Matthew 22:37-39

Jesus Christ FULFILLED the Law of Moses which was given to Israel to prepare them for the coming of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. They needed that 1000 years of preparation because His new testament ideas were even more revolutionary than the old testament commandments.

As the Savior of the world, His atoning sacrifice has the ability to heal all wounds, right all injustice, and bind the broken-hearted.

This great and last dispensation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ further illuminates the Truths of the Gospel and how we can more fully follow Him. Through discipleship, we know with surety that thoughts of jealousy and avariciousness chase away the Spirit of the Lord. Daily scripture study is a “Feast upon the Words of Christ” which helps us to take the Spirit of the Lord as our daily guide. The sacrament reminds us to repent and let the atonement of Jesus Christ affect a change in us to become more like Him. Through His baptism we can become a spiritual being and a part of the spiritual kingdom of God.

That isn’t to say that life becomes easy, but it does have meaning, joy, and hope.
