Hello November!

I love November. I love Thanksgiving! What a great time to be alive! The nip in the air tells me I am definitely feeling it! Even the stars seem brighter in the cold crisp air of a fall/winter night. After a cold walk, I enjoy the warmth of my home, hot chocolate, and family so much more.

November is all about Blessings!!

Ever since George Washington declared a Thanksgiving holiday celebrating the new constitution in 1789, we have celebrated our blessings. Our country is one of our greatest blessings. It’s constitution has allowed us freedom of religion, freedom from oppression, and freedom of expression. In the course of human history, these are pretty revolutionary blessings. And yet, out of all the people who have ever lived on the earth, we get these blessings!!

This is also a good time to start a gratitude journal. Did you know that the practice of acknowledging your blessings by writing them down is a very good way to fight stress and anxiety? We live in a stressful, busy, contentious world. We need to do as Johnny Mercer once said – “accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative, and don’t mess with Mr. In-between.”

Strengthen yourself against hard times, and those dark winter nights, and start a daily gratitude journal. You will feel a very real change in your life, in your attitude, and even in your health.
