Gratitude is the sign of noble souls.
Aesop
The choice before us – will we be bitter or will we be grateful? Both attitudes don’t grow on their own. We need to cultivate them. It is our choice.
Scientific studies have shown that it is much more rewarding to be grateful. To illustrate this concept, I found this short video to share with you.
The three suggestions the video had were to write a thank-you letter, keep a gratitude journal or simply make a list of things you are grateful for. All of these suggestions have proven to help people feel happier, relieve stress, and improve their relationships.
In fact, one of the studies was of school children divided into two groups. The first group was instructed to write a gratitude letter to someone and then visit that person and read the gratitude letter to them. The other group was instructed to write about daily events and daily hassles. The study results indicated that those who experienced the gratitude visit reported greater positive affect than those who reported daily events and hassles.
It truly does depend on You – your focus. If you focus on the good things in life, you will feel more positive. If you focus on the negative things in life, you will feel more discontent.
Take time today and reflect on the blessings of your life. You will be happier for it.
Gratitude is the ability to experience life as a gift.”
