The Path

Baptism is a very important ordinance, especially since it is the first ordinance and the one that grants the gift of the Holy Ghost. It is awesome that the gift of the Holy Ghost is given just as a person enters into the path of discipleship. This wonderful gift, if used properly, will keep a disciple progressing on that strait and narrow path!

The Lord assured His saints that:

23 But unto him that keepeth my commandments I will give the mysteries of my kingdom, and the same shall be in him a well of living water, springing up unto everlasting life.

Doctrine and Covenants 63:23

Keeping commandments, the original 10 as well as others in the scriptures and personal spiritual promptings, are not easy. It is a diligent and earnest disciple that allows the spirit to be a constant companion, a comfort and a guide. This isn’t easy, and rarely continuous, but a diligent effort is still very rewarding. The Lord truly WANTS to be a part of our lives!

Just recently Steve and I decided to put our names in to work at the Spokane Temple as ordinance workers. We’d been thinking about it for a whole year and for some reason last month we submitted our names. In less than 12 hours from submission, we had a call from one of the Temple presidency who said -“This is an answer to prayer. We need you. We are so happy you are willing to serve.”

The timing was impeccable and testifies to us that the Lord is involved in the smallest details of our lives.

This is a 3 year calling, and will definitely require sacrifice and commitment. We know we will learn many things about God and ourselves, and we are eager to have the spirit of the House of the Lord permeate every aspect of our lives.
