194 Semi-Annual

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have a wonderful General Conference to enjoy and study from every 6 months. Speakers, including the 12 apostles and the first presidency, have sought earnestly to give the message Heavenly Father wants His people to hear. Like most people, I eagerly listen for answers to prayers and for insights that can help me in my life.

Someone once said –

This is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Latter days means “last days” and so it’s normal to have a lot of strange stuff going on.”(Anonymous)

You’d have to be an ostrich with your head buried in the sand if you didn’t see that there is a lot of “strange stuff” out there. For many people, the conference talks are a life-line that helps them navigate these strange waters.

In April 2024 President Nelson advised us to –

I am sure that I’m not the only one who has this posted on my fridge or saved it to a cell phone or computer. In short, Thinking celestial means being spiritually minded. President Nelson gave us numerous examples of how to implement this principle in our lives – one of which was to increase our worship in the Holy Temple.

My favorite quote, probably because I am personally very interested in covenant making, came from Sister J. Anette Dennis –

As we make covenants with God in the house of the Lord, we further deepen our relationship with Him. Everything we do in the temple points to our Father’s plan for us, at the heart of which is the Savior and His atoning sacrifice. The Lord will teach us line upon line through the symbolism of the ordinances and covenants as we open our hearts and prayerfully seek to understand the deeper meanings.

Ready for another shot of Celestial Thought? Conference is October 5 and 6, Saturday and Sunday. You can be edified by the spirit and fill up on good thoughts that will sustain you over the next 6 months…. and beyond.
