O Jerusalem!

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

The Lord lamented the future sorrow of His people and His failure in gathering them to Him. Jesus is not a God of subjugation, domination or force. He is a God of independent thinkers and calls all people, men and women to Come unto Him. He explained His gospel clearly. All those with ears to hear Him, accepted His Gospel and entered into His church through repentance and baptism.

While it is now very obvious that Jesus did not come to liberate Israel from the Romans, not everyone understands why He did come.

Since the fall of Adam, mankind has been cut off from the presence of God, the Father. Upon birth, each of us experienced this separation from God. In order to be restored to our Father in Heaven we need a Savior. Jesus Christ is our Savior. Jesus lived a perfect life, blessing all those who knew Him. Through His divine sonship and love for all mankind, Jesus performed an infinite and eternal atonement for our sins. He died and was resurrected and restored to the presence of God, the Father. Now, Jesus Christ is our mediator with the Father to restore us to the Father’s presence through faith in Jesus Christ and His Gospel.

21 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen. (2 Ne. 31:21)

He is Risen!
