The first night of Passover, Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Feast of Unleavened Bread. It began as Jesus directed his apostles to find a quiet upper room where they could celebrate in the busy, crowded city. During this memorable feast, Jesus washed the Apostle’s feet.

A sacred ordinance of service, Jesus took this moment to lovingly instruct His apostles who, earlier in the evening, had been arguing over who among them was greatest. His example spoke volumes to His young leaders.
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
The Savior also gave His disciples a new commandment.

This commandment to love one another is a sign of followers of Christ throughout the world. True disciples of Christ are peacemakers and not easily incited to anger.
This famous dinner, known as the Last Supper, was also where the Savior initiated the ordinance of the sacrament. He gave His followers bread and wine and reminded them of their new covenant to always remember Him.
The Savior knew He would have to leave His followers. He spoke words of comfort, and warned them that things would be difficult. He would have to leave them. He promised that He would not leave them comfortless.

His promises are sure and this blessing is in effect even now, as we seek do His will and keep His words.
He is Risen!
