Church History is all about keeping records as we were commanded to do in D&C 21:1. As you can imagine this commandment has been very difficult to keep!

Technology is helping us to catch up. The new Unit History Tool (UHT) can be used throughout the year to give a running record of events as they happen. All members can access the UHT on their account on the churchofjesuschrist.org. All members can post stories, but only branch, ward and stake leaders can approve the posts for publication. It can be found here –.

This new technology was just one of the things we learned about this week in Frankfurt Germany. But hey! We’re Senior Missionaries so we couldn’t just sit and learn for three whole days! We had to have our evening field trips!

First, we went to the Archeological Museum Frankfurt where the earliest Christian artifact north of the alps was on display. Dated to 230-270 AD, the amulet was a phylactery worn by a man 35-45 yrs old. The inscription was in latin and proclaims Jesus Christ as the son of God. https://www.archaeologisches-museum-frankfurt.de/index.php/en/exhibitions/frankfurt-silver-inscription

Doesn’t look like much but it has scholars and scientists in thrall over its artistic latin inscription.

The walking tour around Frankfurt showed us the Book Burning Emblem from WWII, the Town Square, the Cathedral and even the Archeological Museum was, interestingly enough, housed in an old monastery. It was all very beautiful.

We trained with two other couples from the US. The Barrs are stationed in the Netherland and Ellers are in Slovakia. We are all doing the same things, collecting historical information pertaining to Church History in our assigned areas.

Together with our new friends, we got to enjoy the Frankfurt Temple. We loved it!

Afterwards we walked over to Cafe Klatsch and had an 8pm dinner! Way too late for me, but I had to eat it anyway. It was a rainy night and tucking in to a dish like this was so comforting. And yummy!

Cafe Klatsch speciality, with bacon, potatoes, cheese, peppers. I was too full to sleep but I had no regrets:-) https://mein-klatsch.de/cafes/friedrichsdorf/

All the sight-seeing plus the camaraderie of the Ellers and the Barrs made the training easy. Still, it was a relief to get back to our home in Cyprus. Now we have a much clearer understanding of what to collect and all the techy-tech things we need to do to collect it!
