Partners

Humanitarian Missionaries, once they near the end of their missions, have a great knowledge of church humanitarian partnerships in their area. It is our (Church History missionaries, aka Elder and Sister Hofhiens) responsibility to interview them and learn about all the good things the church is doing.

Elder and Sister Easter are relatively new Humanitarian Missionaries in Cyprus, and they agreed to take us on one of their Partner visits to the Red Cross here in Limassol.

Elder and Sister Easter surround the Red Cross Rep, Kristina. Elder and Sister Hofhiens on the ends.

We learned how the Red Cross is looking to expand their Children’s Rehabilitation Center with a larger space for outpatients with disabilities, more short-term housing for families while their child recovers from surgery, and functional furniture and therapeutic tools designed to help patients in recovery and development. We saw occupational therapists help students by using sensory rooms, therapeutic swimming pools, and traditional play exercises. We enjoyed touring the entire facility.

Our purpose in documenting these partnerships is to supply the Church’s legal team with information. So the next time the Church seeks to upgrade their status from a business to a Religious Organization they can give evidence that proves the Church is a good organization doing good things, one that serves Cypriots, and one that contributes to Cyprus in positive ways. Our organized documentation truly helps the Church grow, and hopefully one day, we will see our church recognized as a CHURCH and a RELIGION here in Cyprus!

Another fun thing I did is make sushi with Julieth, a Colombian sister who served a mission in Panama. She is now the RS president in our little branch, mother to a sweet baby boy, and completely determined to teach me how to make sushi! Hah!

Well… I am still not a good cook, but it was fun and yummy! And I got to hold the baby! Boy, do I miss my grandbabies!

Our newest grandson! What a beauty!
