We have been in Cyprus now for over 133 days! Time is fast by the week, and slow by the hour, but the one constant is these young missionaries. They are friendly, optimistic and joyful. They attract people to the Gospel message through their youth, beauty and excitement! Our young missionaries are truly the best this generation has to offer the world.

Teaching with the young missionaries has been one of our favorite activities. They’ve taught Elder Hofhiens and me in church, in District Council, and in lessons with friends. Lessons with friends are the best!
In Cyprus, missionaries have the extra challenge of being in a Greek-speaking mission but mainly teaching refugees that speak other languages, like French, Arabic, Hindi, and Persian. They have to be very quick with Google Translate!

The Missionary program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is an amazing 2-year Bootcamp for young Disciples of Jesus Christ! These young men and women are completely immersed in the Doctrine of Christ. They practice Christ-like attributes as they extend kindness, love, and tolerance to everyone they meet. They are intentionally serving Jesus Christ by teaching His Gospel to anyone with ears to hear!

It is not an easy course of study, and I am amazed at their fortitude and faith. Sometimes the work is painfully slow, but they plow on trusting that the Lord will bless their efforts. I know they are focussed on the mission field they are plowing, but I can’t help but look at the men and women they are becoming! They are impressive!
The problem I find is that just when I am getting used to them, they leave for another part of the mission. Each of them has added something indescribable to my mission experience and I feel the loss when they go…

I’ve settled on giving each of them a simple gift as they leave our area. It doesn’t make a pretty picture, but I think it makes a good souvenir:-)
