President and Sister Nelson has returned home and the Bulgaria Greece mission is divided in two separate missions! Bulgaria is combined with Northern Macedonia to form the Bulgaria Sofia Mission, and Cyprus and Greece remain together to form the new Greece Athens Mission. Compared to our previous mission in Costa Rica West where there were approximately 135 young missionaries and 4 Senior missionaries, our Greece Athens mission is much smaller with approximately 29 young missionaries and 15 Senior missionaries. Very different numbers but the spirit is the same!!
We were excited to visit with our new mission leaders, President Howard McKeon and Sister Heather McKeon. They are from Alexandria Virginia where they run the McKeon Group and work for special interests in Washington D.C. We speculate that they are going to work to get the Lord’s work and His church approved as a “charitable organization” in Athens!
The first missionaries to ever proselyte in Cyprus were Barnabas and Saul in 68 AD. (Acts 13-15) They were faithful missionaries and over time both Barnabas and Saul/Paul were called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. In this calling, they both died as martyrs for Jesus Christ. Paul died in Rome and Barnabas died in Cyprus.
Jesus said – “the first shall be last and the last shall be first.” In the Messianic dispensation Cypriots were among the first to receive the Gospel of Christ. In this dispensation the Restored Gospel is taking root very slowly. However the work is still progressing. Our Presidents McKeon have challenged us, even us Senior Missionaries, to open our mouths and talk to everyone!
We live in a time when we can safely proclaim God’s truth to the world. With more than 85,000 selfless, young missionaries proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations, kindreds, tongues, and peoples! We are living a modern-day miracle and it is fulfilling modern-day prophecy!
Because of His love for us, Jesus Christ called a prophet who restored His Truth, His priesthood, and His Gospel.
Time to share it with all the world!
