Life doesn’t stop!

We go out on our mission and hope all will be well while we are gone, but life goes on and things change. We’ve missed a few things, some big and some small, and some that really changed our world.

Little Kate is hitting her milestones! Born a week before Christmas, we got to hold and cuddle her before the mission. Alec was born 2 1/2 months early in March. In spite of his rough start, he is doing super! And so is the very entertaining Aaron, Alec’s “big” brother, and only 15 months older than Alec! Mayleigh, our oldest granddaughter, has turned 7 and she can entertain baby Kate and Jay at the same time. Jessica is trying out helicopters and Noah got a new kittie named ‘Captain’!

On the other end of the spectrum, Steve’s father, Alma Joseph Hofhiens, finished his mission on earth and has returned to his heavenly home where he was reunited with his dear wife, Lillie, and his daughter, Kristine. Al was – and always will be – a great friend, example, father, confidant, grandpa, sergeant, mentor and cheerleader for the past 83 years. He will definitely be missed!

He blessed us both before our mission and told us not to come home for nothing! Al, and Lillie too:-), believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their tombstone references a favorite scripture and reads – “Al and Lil will go and do…”

“…I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them, that they may accomplish the things which he commandeth them.

1 Ne. 3:7

They went and did!
