The translation is — “Sand Point”! Now isn’t that familiar! Sand Point, Idaho isn’t that far away from home:-)
When President Cates asked us to visit the Mission Group in “Sand Point” we were very excited! We were happy to get out of town and see some countryside. Punta Arenas is a seaport on the Pacific Ocean about 90 minutes from Escazu.
There is A LOT of construction on the road! Notice something interesting in these two pictures?

Roads are challenging in Costa Rica, but the people are super friendly. I am always impressed by our missionaries. Elder Najarro is always excited to talk with us in English! Elder Andrews is from Idaho Falls and loves to hear news from (almost) home! He actually misses snow… and he should. It’s 102 degrees here!

The young man in the center is Jeremy. He is a member of 15 months and a wonderful example to all who know him. He wants to serve a mission and preach the Gospel to others – just like the young missionaries who taught him the Gospel only months ago. When we build our lives on the sure foundation of Jesus Christ, we can become truly Exceptional!!
And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless woe, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
Mosiah 5:12
