AS missionaries in Costa Rica, we belong to a great ward in Escazú, San Jose. We have a set of Elders and a set of Sisters assigned to our ward too. We often attend Sunday School with these young missionaries and their amigos. Getting to know investigators and members in the ward has been a fun and rewarding part of our mission.

The barrio celebrated with tamales and an animated discussion of the Birth of Jesus Christ. Some of our missionaries and recent converts even acted in the Nativity scene. Uh, oh…. it looks like the baby Jesus is missing!?

President Cates capitalized on the great spirit of the holiday season by holding a mission-wide fast. The goal is to have every companionship have a baptism in the month of January. Elder Hofhiens and I were asked to give the motivational speeches to initiate the fast. Our Spanish was surprisingly good — because we practiced ALOT!!

Many of the missionaries in Sunday’s Noche de Milagros testified of the blessings they’ve received as they’ve actively sought to gather Israel and find people interested in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is wonderful to hear of the miracles happening all around us! Heavenly Father is truly, and very actively, involved in this great work to gather Israel!
Our new mission scripture:
Behold my Spirit is upon you, wherefore all they words will I justify; and the mountains shall flee before you, and the rivers shall turn from their course; and thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me.
Moses 6:24

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!
