Our Sabana Zone conference was a Christmas party with singing, acting and feasting! These young people are amazing and joyful!

Our District members – Sisters Baldwin, DeMille, Hafen, Servellon, Elders Cedeño, Gallegos, Socop and Jenson – showed off their talents! Plus, Elder Hofhiens and I were able to help out at all the other Zone Conferences. This week we saw all 130 missionaries in the mission!

Every zone re-enacted the famous Christmas story found in Luke 2. Our zone was the only zone that had a 6’4″ elder act as the baby Jesus!

There were costumes for angels, sheep, shepherds, donkeys, wise men, Mary and Joseph, and the Star! We had a great time singing and sharing.

President Cates finished the evening by talking about traditions. Although the Christmas tree is not found in Christmas traditions until the 16th century, the tradition of the Christmas tree is very much evident in the Book of Mormon. In 1 Nephi 11, an angel explains to Nephi that this wonderful Tree represents the “Love of God, which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men; wherefore, it is the most desirable above all things… and the most joyous to the soul.”

In his Christmas message, President Nelson invited all of us to share the Love of God with those around us. Our missionaries have been very active in caroling, inviting, fasting, and teaching. We have had the opportunity to join them in all these activities and it has made our Christmas all the more merrier!! What a blessing to have a prophet in our lives!

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without news from home. Thanks to technology and thoughtful children, we saw our grandkids unwrap gifts and enjoy the delights of Christmas morning. We also were able to share the wonderful story of Christmas via a self-produced video play! Elder Hofhiens even shared a song on the ukelele!

Letters of appreciation, conversations from home, stories of the Christ child – all of these things warmed our hearts and brightened the season!
